The FIFA 2026 Men’s World Cup is being co-hosted by the U.S., Mexico and Canada.  The U.S. is also hosting the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Austin Powers’ Dr. Evil Takes Over GM, Electric Vehicles And . . . The World!?

By Barry Janoff

February 10, 2022: In its efforts to take over the automobile world, General Motors has reunited the lead members from the Austin Powers film series — where Dr. Evil wants to take over the world — for a spot to air during the third quarter of Super Bowl LVI on NBC.

Dr. EV-il” is the latest in GM’s umbrella  “Everybody In” campaign, which seeks “to normalize EVs.”

GM said the company “is committed to a zero-emissions, all-electric future that is already underway, and will have 30 EVs globally by the end of 2025.”

In the anchor spot, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) has been renamed Dr. EV-il and takes over GM to fight climate change “so he can be the one to destroy the world.”

He enlists Number Two (Rob Lowe), Scott Evil (Seth Green) and Frau Farbissina (Mindy Sterling), who plan to use GM’s Ultium Battery Platform technology to “fight his new nemesis.”

The spot highlights several products from GM’s EV lineup, including the GMC Hummer EV SUV and Pickup, Cadillac LYRIQ, Chevy Silverado EV, and the BrightDrop EV600 — “showing the breadth of vehicle types built on the flexible, dedicated Ultium Battery Platform,” according to GM.

The campaign also features a Dr. EV-il takeover of GM platforms, including its Web site, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook destinations, which will continue through the Super Bowl.

As in the Austin Power’s movies themselves, Dr. EV-il’s plan is not without complications.

“Ladies and gentlemen, our takeover of General Motors is complete,” says Dr. EV-il to his crew, including Number Two, Scott Evil and Frau Farbissina.

Number Two: “Dr. Evil, we can now use GM’s Ultium Platform to power our whole operation.”

Scott Evil: “Now we can reduce tailpipe emissions.”

Dr. EV-il: “I’m sorry. Am I no longer Dr. Evil? I’m Dr. Good now? I didn’t get the memo.”

Scott Evil: “Climate change is arguably the No. 1 threat to the world now.”

Number Two: “Dr. EV-il, your are now the No. 2 threat to the world.”

Dr. EV-il: “I refuse to be No. 2, Number Two.”

Frau Farbissina: “You must help save the world first. Then you can take over the world.

Dr. EV-il: “How about you let me do the business. I will save the world first. Then I will take over the world."

Frau Farbissina: “We will reduce our carbon footprint!”

Dr. EV-il: “Whatever.”

They all head to GM EVs to drive off, with a closing shot of Scott Evil’s new baby, Kyle, whom Dr. EV-il has renamed “Baby Me.”

The three Austin Powers movies were Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002).
