One of the books most revealing tales include her harrowing account of her abortion in the 1960s, while she was engaged to Warren Beatty. In an excerpt shared by Daily Mail, Collins said the couple came to the decision out of fear of what having a child out of wedlock would do to their careers.

“He took none of the responsibility for me becoming pregnant. That was the woman’s department,” Collins recalled thinking of Beatty during the drive to the procedure. “I tried to convince myself that we were doing the right thing as Warren consulted a piece of paper on which were written the directions. I was in my mid-20s. I had a thriving career.”

“But a baby would change all that. I would have to stop working. Fox would cancel my contract. I might lose my figure. I might be a lousy mother. He and I were not suited to each other in the long run.”

Collins also gave insight into her relationship with Marilyn Monroe and the advice the Hollywood legend gave her about “wolves in this town.” And opened up about the long-standing rivalry between her and her sister, Jackie, and how it impacted her grief following Jackie’s 2015 death. She wrote:  “No one – not our friends, not our closest family – will really know everything we shared together, our bond over an entire lifetime, and the deep abiding love that always existed between us and that I still feel.”
