Dame Joan described Percy in a candid interview with The Mirror.

"He’s a wonderful, kind, truly good man," she said. "My accomplice, yes, and my best friend. Plus he’s extremely handsome – and he just gets better and better."

She also described the sweet rituals that she shares with her husband: "Every morning before he goes for a run he brings me a coffee in bed while I read all the papers," she added. "And he leaves me little notes under the kettle."

As for her secret to a long-lasting marriage? The charismatic 90-year-old revealed that she became really good friends with Percy first, to form a strong connection.

The couple became friends after they first met in 2000. At the time, Dame Joan was touring the U.S. in comedy-drama Love Letters, which Percy was producing.

Now, over 20 years on from tying the knot at Claridge’s hotel in London in 2002, Dame Joan says that she and Percy have been fortunate enough to have separate bathrooms at home.

This, she says, has been key to their success!

Dame Joan will be revealing many more of stories from her life and amazing adventures in her upcoming book, Behind The Shoulder Pads - Tales I Tell My Friends.
