Glympse Track & Treat
Glympse, a Seattle location technology startup, is once again rolling out its app to help parents keep tabs on their little ghosts and goblins. Parents send their kids out in pursuit of candy with a mobile device running the Track & Treat app. They can then check in to make sure their little ones haven’t strayed too far or to meet up with them later in the evening.
“Kids want independence on Halloween to Trick-or-Treat with their friends. Parents want a way to stay connected and keep their kids safe while providing the freedom their kids are asking for,” said Monica Depiesse, executive creative director, Glympse.
Ghost Lens 2
Freak out friends and co-workers and bring your annual scary stories into the 21st century with Ghost Lens 2. The app has a range of spooky filters to make your Instagram and Snapchat photos look like stills from The Ring, The Sixth Sense, and other horror staples.
The app also allows you to make video illusions, complete with scary background music.
Nextdoor Treat Map
Nextdoor, the social network for neighborhoods, is getting into the Halloween spirit with a new Treat Map. On the Nextdoor app, neighbors can mark their homes with a little candy corn icon to let trick-or-treaters know where to stop. There’s also an option for haunted house hosts to mark their spooky stop on the map.
“Thanks to the Treat Map, neighbors know exactly who is giving out candy in their neighborhood and can plan the most efficient route to find the best streets for treats,” said a Nextdoor spokesperson.
Slender Rising
In this mobile game, players search eerie settings to find clues while trying to avoid the Slender Man, the Internet’s first and most insidious urban legend. The Slender Man was born of a photo editing contest but morphed into the most iconic online horror meme in existence.
TouchArcade calls the game “the best take on Slender man yet and inarguably the pinnacle of the mythos on iOS.”
Vampify
Twilight fans, this one’s for you. Vampify lets you turn your selfies into 3D animated photos of the undead. The app also has options to transform yourself into a werewolf and daywalker. Unwilling to cross over into the immortal realm without bringing your furry friend along? Don’t worry, the app also works on pets.
