According to WMTV and WKOW, the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison said the 3-month-old pups, named Lily, Montello and Fisher after Wisconsin rivers, will be out and about in their public exhibit starting Thursday.

The youngsters, born Feb. 15 to mother Elva and father Dragonroll, "have passed their final swim test" and "will begin exploring their habitat" most mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the attraction said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

"The pups have hit all of their growth milestones and are ready to show off how good they have gotten at swimming," the post read. "They will be on exhibit with mom, Elva. They still need to be introduced to Dragonroll, and those introductions will take place in the next few weeks."

In a previous post, zoo officials said otters "are born blind and helpless, and their eyes remain closed until they are around 5 weeks old." The pups are "raised solely by the female," the post added.
