In the sport of bodybuilding, the hunt for a perfect physique has led many bodybuilders to go down dangerous paths. Some use external substances such as steroids to enhance their performance and appearance, and in most cases, it has a damaging impact. Recently, legendary bodybuilder and coach Milos Sarcev talked about the same and has courageously come forward to discuss his past mistakes. The veteran coach made headlines as he opened up about the dark side of his career.

The legendary bodybuilder has grabbed the attention of the fitness community as he talked about the detrimental effects of using steroids by giving his personal example. 

Milos Sarcev opened up about the vicious cycle of consuming external drugs

Sarcev appeared on the latest episode of the Menace Podcast along with Dennis James, Chris Cormier, and Mr. Olympia head judge Steve Weinberger To discuss various aspects of bodybuilding. However, as the topic shifted toward new-age bodybuilders’ approach toward external performance-enhancing drugs, Sarcev gave his example as he candidly admitted “I ruined my career with Synthol.” He further went on to explain how such steroids play with one’s psychology. 

According to Sarcev, the use of external substances in bodybuilding can quickly become a vicious cycle. Athletes often start by using such performance-enhancing drugs to see rapid gains in muscle mass and strength. Sarcev said that the impressive initial results can create a temptation to continue using these substances to maintain or enhance their physique further. However, he said that the human body is not designed to handle such synthetic enhancements long-term and ends up looking odd.

“You need it a little bit so you do it. And you do it a little bit more, and then it’s like being carried away, and then it doesn’t look normal. And when you try to fix it, you just make it even worse,” Sarcev explained. However, this is not the first time when the Serbian bodybuilder has opened up about his mistakes from the past. 

When Sarcev ignored experts’ advice

A few months back, the 59-year-old bodybuilding coach admitted to using site enhancement oils multiple times in his career on another episode of The Menace Podcast. The former Mr. Universe revealed that he injected synthol in his bicep before the Canada Pro Cup. “When you never have arms, and now it’s like 22 inches, it’s like, ‘Oh this is good,” he said on the podcast.

The former professional bodybuilder added that he was warned by some notable personalities, but didn’t pay much attention at that time. Sarcev Further admitted that the ignorance gave him a near-death experience as he had congestive heart failure after hitting a vein while injecting synthol.
