Joan also makes the shock revelation in the show that her first husband Maxwell Reed drugged and raped her on their first date and also wanted to “offer” her to “rich old men” for £10,000 a time, while he watched them having sex.

She alleged Reed spiked her rum and Coke with the drug rohypnol at his house.

She added: “The next thing I knew I was flat out on his sofa and he was raping me.

“In those days, my mother would have said I was ‘taken advantage of’. Now we call it date rape.”

The actress went on to marry Reed in 1952, saying now that she did so through a sense of “shame”.

In the documentary, the screen legend also claimed that late Man United star George Best was once considered for a leading role in a soft porn movie with her.

In series 5 of the show she clashed with Tanya Turner, played by then-newcomer Zoe Lucker, who cheated on her husband Jason with his teammate Conrad.

Zoe had previously left the show in series 4 and in an interview with Digital Spy, she said that Joan being brought onto the show for series 5 persuaded her to return to the role.

She said: "I worked with Joan Collins in season five. She's literally my icon. I was in New Zealand at the time and the exec producer, because I'd left halfway through season four, he rang me.

"I was touring in New Zealand and he said, 'How do you feel about coming back if Joan Collins was your nemesis?' And I just thought well, that's a no-brainer."

The actress admits starring alongside the Dame is still a highlight of her career to date and she labelled the star " brilliant and funny and lovely" before saying she's "just such a talent".

Joan admitted she doesn't wear wigs as often as people might think

Fans of Joan will agree that the 88-year-old looks incredible for her age, and is still one of the busiest women in showbusiness.

But the actress recently admitted that the secret to her ageless looks is no cosmetic surgery but heavy make-up and a extensive collection of wigs.

She wrote in her autobiography: "People think I wear wigs all the time.

"Well, I don’t. But I do wear them when I go out to an event, because getting my hair like it looks right now takes two and a half hours and I usually don’t have the patience to sit under the drier for that long," as she admitted she didn't understand why hair extensions are "accepted' but wigs "have a stigma".

Family tragedies

Jackie died of cancer in 2015 after being diagnosed siz years earlier

Discussing her mother's death in 1962 she said that it was 'very upsetting' and she could have met her grandchildren.

Joan explained: "I did know [that she had cancer], I first heard about it in Hollywood, Jackie called and told me. But we were told it wasn't that serious.

"Cancer was a word in the 1960s you just didn't say. We were told it was a bad, flu-like illness."

Meanwhile, Joan didn't initially know that her older sister Jackie, who was a hugely successful author, had been diagnosed with cancer six years before she died in 2015.

Joan told Piers: "She told me in the south of France. She called and she said, ‘I just want to tell you something… I don’t want you to get upset.

"And she said: ‘I’ve got stage four cancer,’ and I said: ‘How is that possible?’

"I know you can do so much these days, so I didn’t really worry about it too much, because I really thought…

"My motto was: ‘Always look on the bright side.’ I always thought she would beat it."

Piers Morgan and Joan had a clash when she appeared on his Life Stories series last year.

When probed about her thoughts on Meghan Markle, Joan quickly shut him down and left the audience in hysterics with her quick wit.

Piers asked her: "What do you make of what’s going on with the British royal family now, with Meghan, Harry, the feud, with William, Charles?

Joan quickly responded: "My lips are sealed on that subject. I just don’t want to go on national TV and say what I think about Meghan and Harry, because look what happened to you."

Joan also revealed wasn't very keen on her co-star John Forsythe.

She told Piers how she campaigned to have a higher wage herself, adding that the actor always"'had to get paid $5000 more and be front and centre in the publicity".
