An all-star rap revue organized by LL Cool J in celebration of a half-century of hip-hop is headed to FedExForum.

Titled "The F.O.R.C.E. (Frequencies of Real Creative Energy) Live," the show hits Memphis on Aug. 22, in the midst of a 24-city national tour.

According to a press release, "the show will be a nonstop musical mash up with artist performances interwoven within one continuous musical set backed by The Roots," accompanied by DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Z-Trip.

According to Ticketmaster, the stars scheduled to join LL Cool J in Memphis include Rakim, Big Boi, Juvenile, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, Jadakiss and MC Lyte. Others participating on the tour include Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, Common, Method Man & Redman, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Ice T, De La Soul, Goodie Mob and Rick Ross. It is uncertain whether some of those artists also could join the Memphis date.

"There has never been a traveling Hip-Hop extravaganza of this magnitude," claims the press release. The boast may be accurate. From Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee LL Cool J on down, the artists on the tour include some of the most significant foundational figures in hip-hop, in terms of sales, peer influence, and critical acclaim.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the FedExForum box office and via Ticketmaster.com. "Pre-sale" begins at 10 a.m. Thursday for Memphis Grizzlies' MVP Season Ticket Members, recipients of FedExForum Event Alert e-mails and subscribers of Grizzlies e-News.

Born in Long Island, New York, LL Cool J released his debut album, "Radio," in 1985, after securing a distribution deal for Def Jam with Columbia/CBS Records. He's shown with DJs Bobcat, Cut Creator and E-Love.
