If Sergio Leone had ever signed on to make one of those ‘70s Blaxploitation oaters that once provided steady employment for Fred Williamson, it likely would have looked and sounded much like “Outlaw Posse,” a wildly uneven but cumulatively entertaining shoot-‘em-up that finds Mario Van Peebles doing triple duty as director, screenwriter and star. Whoopi
Goldberg
Goldberg is most often seen leading the Emmy-winning panel on ABC’s “The View,” but she has also been adding to her impressive acting résumé. She made her long-awaited return to “Star Trek,” reprising the role of Guinan in “Picard”; lent her voice talents to Apple TV+’s animated movie “Luck”; and produced and starred in the period drama “Till.” The film, directed by Chinonye Chuwku, focuses on Emmett Till’s mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, and her quest for justice following her teen son’s lynching in 1955, a galvanizing moment for America’s civil rights movement. Goldberg portrayed Till’s grandmother, Alma Carthan, in the film, which had its world premiere at the New York Film Festival in September. Coming up, she’ll be back in the habit as Deloris Van Cartier in the highly anticipated “Sister Act 3” movie, which she’s producing alongside old friend Tyler Perry.
