NC leader Narahari Acharya returns to House after a year

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Narahari Acharya, who suffered from brain haemorrhage last year, went to attend the Parliament meeting on Wednesday after a year.

Acharya had fainted while paying his last tributes to Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala at the latter's residence on February 9 last year, and suffered from partial paralysis due to brain haemmorrhage.

The former minister and ideologue had stayed away from the public life for several months after getting discharged from the Bansbari-based Neuro Hospital where he underwent treatment.

Acharya was seen walking with support from others in the Parliament premises today.

Briefly talking to the media personnel, Acharya said he earlier did not have enough confidence to go outside despite doctors' advice to do so.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary State Affairs Committee chairman, Dil Bahadur Gharti, presented the Committee's report on the Local Level Elections Bill before the Parliament.

The House, which was adjourned for tomorrow after a brief sitting, however, did not begin discussion on the report today.

It is expected that the Parliament would hold deliberations on the report tomorrow before its endorsement.
