This mod here colors the brutes based on their names in the files. So Halo 3 has a minor, major, ultra, captain, captain major, captain ultra, and then bodyguard (Which is not higher than captain ultra. It's only as strong as a regular major). So for colors I went with blue, red, white, blue red, white, and then gold for the bodyguard.
For the new version I've just made, I decided to ignore the internal names of the brute ranks and instead create my own ranking system that's more like classic elites. It's the same ranks as I listed above, but I now refer to them as minor, minor+, major, ultra, zealot, zealot+, and bodyguard. The colors are bluish green, blue, red, white, gold, gold with red undersuit, and greenish blue with red undersuit. I'm thinking this will be better and I'll take the time to release it after I've playtested it.
