The Castle Air Museum in Atwater received another vintage aircraft on Friday.

A Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk made its way from Primm, Nevada.

According to Executive Director Joe Pruzzo, the stealth jet is one of only 59 built.

Pruzzo says much of the proprietary stealth technology was removed prior to the jet being delivered.

The Lockheed aircraft is known for being the first to fly at night over Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Desert Storm back in 1991.

The U.S. Air Force retired the F-117 in April 2008, primarily due to the fielding of the F-22 Raptor.

Pruzzo says Castle is the only museum to receive this type of aircraft in Northern California.

This plane is quite large to transport so the California Highway Patrol escorted it through the entire journey.

The jet was delivered to Castle Air Museum on Friday, July 29th, and will take about a year to restore.
