You need to consult the FAQ, it's right at the top of the forum.

B swaps are covered in great detail, pics hints, required, parts, est costs, etc.

I paid 700 for my JDM B18B. It is a fun swap in my 88 Hatch.

funny thing is the car this motor is coming out of (honda integra) the vin starts with a J meaning its from japan and the under hood stickers say made in japan

but the block says b18b1 meaning US made motor. im a lil confused about this.,..

is this a decent swap for 350 for the motor starter alternator & dizzy. how do i kno which dizzy i have?

& also my car d15b2 has pm6 ecu with mpfi but the wirign is garbage. cant i just take the harness out of the teggy and the mpfi out of the teggy and use that with the teggy ecu??? ( using the teggy engine harness spliced into the underdash harness????)

also and 90-01 integra front axles will work right? as long as it has the matching int shaft? what the hell is the int shaft??

also can i used the rear discs from this car? im nto sure what year but wiki says it has to be a 94 teggy but i think it might be a 90-93 body with a b18b1 swap. im not sure ill find out monday\

im thinking about going with cable clutch instead of hydro.

what is the best manual tranny i can used for this motor (B18B1) without changing gearing ( i do not want to buy solinoids cuz they arnt cheap) i want a plug & play tranny. im probably going to turbo this motor and use it on the drag strip but also daily drive it. so what tranny is BEST!!!!?

yoo.
i have a 1991 ef sedan.
just picked up a b18b1 for $275. and its a 1995
Great swap if you are a torque guy. They are strong motors. As im boosting mine.
Let me know how the swap goes.
oh and b16 cable trans if your looking for quick gears or b18a1 (da teggy) ls trans is nice.
im using b16 cable trans with ls fifth gear for highway crusing.

thats cool, a few questions tho.

when you swapped out the 5th gear how much did that cost you. i heard u have to order new shift solenoids from honda to totally rebuild the tranny heard its very expensive. a little info on this??

what would be the best car to find this tranny out of. & a b-series from a b21a3 (90-91 prelude) will not work?

is there a better head i can put on it. i dont really want a vtec i'm thinkin more along the lines turbo w/o the V. cable shift is fine. but I'd like to stay in 3rd gear thru the 1/4 mile.. is this unrealistic??

i might rebuild the top end can i get some links to some products i might need?
why dont ebay mounts work?? innovative the next best thing to hasport & why is hasport so expensive?? are they worth it?

basicly. what year car would be the BEST tranny for a daily driven car that will see drag applications, also keeping in mind i only drive in 5th gear on the highway. i usually do most my driving in 4th gear just to have that throttle response ready if & when i need it.

well them homie had a b16 trans laying around. i have my stock ls trans. so we ripped out 5th and dropped in the b16 trans. i payed 4 bills with labor. so idk depends were you get it homie.
and as far as being in 3rd on the 1/4 im thinking straight ls trannnsss. (1990-1993 ) integra trans.
far as mounts i bought hasports on ebay for 100. enough said ebay mounts are very good. ive used them several times in boost and n/a engine builds. theyre cheap and work good bro.
if you drive highway alot then go with ls. if not go with b16 trans. if you go with b16 on the highway going 70 you will be like at 4/5 k rpm. and you know that is high. with gas prices these days. plus its geats annoying to the point were you say damn my rpms seem high and i driving 20 miles. /.... start thinking im streessing the motor while just crusing?
good luck

anyone have the specs on a b16 vs a ls tranny.

also any insight on a LS auto trans? i kno AUTO=BOO
but its free & i dont have a tranny right now. would ti be worth it to just instal the motor & trans since they are still connected & swap out the tranny later. or is there much more work involved??

there are NO shift solenoids in a MANUAL trans my friend. you need to research more.

unless your car is already an auto and your planning on making it a manual later an auto trans will not work in your car. the auto trans uses a seperate comp cause it DOES have shift solenoids. thats how it AUTOMATICALLY shifts gears

autos are faster. but im not going that fast so im going to go faster with a manual transmission. but you are right, i was retarded there for a moment..

currently i have a 91 EF hatch with a d15b2 with mpfi installed. The wiring is disgusting. I don't know what to do. the car is a 5 speed manual. the ecu is a pm6. there are no engine lights flashing (but maybe the bulbs are out "i doubt it"). a lot of my electrical **** doesn't work. stereo is fine, lol........so i got to thinking, why cant i just take the whole motor & tranny (b18b2) out of a JDM (yo) 92 integra.? now the car is made in japan but the motor is not. why i do not understand. but the tranny is an auto but i was thinking of installing it into my ef hatch & if i happen to find a manual gsr tranny i would go with that. or would i end up buying a lot of expensive parts two times???

anyway. how much does it cost to switch 5th gear? assuming i purchased 5thgear & parts to install new from honda (if this existed) or where would i go?

A brand new ls fifth gear can end up costing atleast 300 bucks. It would be cheaper to find a ls tranny and a GSR or sir b16 trans and swap the fifth gear then buying it all brand new.

i have a hard time buying used transmission parts. a used complete tranny is one thing, but dissembling a used tranny to install the parts for a turbo build isnt my idea of a good idea.]

thanks for the info tho.

i bought the car today for $400. im removing the LCA's right now (im on lunch) & ill be working on it all week. ill post some info on my build thread when i get the motor back to the shop.

go to pick your part or your local junk yard on a half off day and ripp apart a 1990-1993 integra and take a tranny. ls rs gs all the same.
just look for the one with least miles. and pay attention (dont get a tranny off a car that has body kit/lowering springs.exhaust . **** like that should hint of abuse !!!

there isnt a u pull it lot for like 35 miles. & they dont have anything honda or acura & when they do you basically have to go daily to find something.

but ive got it in pretty good with most of the parts retailers & junk yards around my area. my dads got a shop & been doing it 30+ years. im able to have access to 3 garages after business hours so im pretty set up on a place to do the work.

ill post a few pictures maybe in a new build thread im just trying to get info as of now.

shift linkage, motor mounts, ecu, wiring, axles, suspension.
