Desiree died in a tragic accident  just a short  distance from my driveway. I never met the young lady. But I felt moved to provide a webpage so those who loved her and mourned her passing could express their thoughts and feelings.

This is Desiree's obituary:

Desiree Marie GoodwiDesi1n born April 23, 2003 in Phoenix, AZ received her angel wings on July 2, 2015. Desiree is survived by her father Lyle F. Goodwin; her mother Stacey Orr as well as her step mother Lacey Wiser; brother Derrek Orr; sister Emma Goodwin; grandparents Lyle and Sharon Askren, and Dale and Tanja Orr; aunts Francis Bingham, Tracey and Tammy Orr; uncles Patrick Philbin, Dominique Goodwin, and Alan Worz; several cousins and many extended family members. Desiree was a gorgeous, intelligent, courageous, graceful, ambitious and strong young lady whose smile was infectious and could light up any room and the hearts of those in it. In her short time of 12 years Desi had her Daddy wrapped around her finger, and was her Mommy's Princess, her pride and joy and best friend. She loved swimming, camping, playing volleyball, playing with her iPod, snap chatting, going to the beach, the color turquoise, eating at Smashburger and spending time with her family. Desi was very smart. She easily excelled at school and could not wait to go back. She had the world at her fingertips and knew where she wanted to go in life. When she grew up she wanted to be a doctor. Loved by all, Desiree will be greatly missed. She will never be forgotten.

This is a remembrance of Desiree by her family including her brother:

Desiree came into this world on April 23, 2003. She was not due to be born until June 6, 2003 but she couldn't wait to set eyes on her mommy, daddy and big brother. So she thought it was time to enter the world a little early.

When Desiree was younger, she loved playing house with her baby dolls. She would put diapers on them, change their clothes, do their hair, feed them, and put them to sleep. Desiree loved to play outside with her brother Derrek. Desi loved to drive her Daddy's tractors, and loved blowing the horns in the big dump trucks. Desi also loved riding go carts with her uncle Dominique; she never wanted to get off. She also enjoyed going to the races and watching her Daddy and Uncle Dominique race at Manzanita Speedway. She was her daddy's biggest fan. She still to this day loved going to watch her brother Derrek race and cheer him on as he was beginning his racing adventure.

Desiree discovered in her early years that when she grew up, she wanted to be a "baby doctor", and still wanted to be to this day.

Desiree was Daddy's little girl, she always called her Daddy "GOOFY" but loved her Daddy so much and looked up to him, she thought so highly of her dad.

Desiree loved spending time with her mom. They enjoyed going shopping, and getti ng their hair done and doing what moms and daughters do. Desiree's mom was her best friend and Desi is her mom's best friend and little princess.

When Desiree was 10 years old, she was blessed with a little sister, Emma Rose Goodwin. She was at the hospital the day she was born, and was so excited to see her little sissy. Emma became Desi's pride and joy and wanted to help take care of her in any way she could.

Desiree grew into a beautiful, caring young lady with a heart full of gold and love. She was loved very much by her grandparents. She got her grandpa Dale hooked on Caramel Frappes from Starbucks, and always got her grandpa Lyle to buy her ice cream. She loved calling her grandma Tanja “granny panny'” and spending time with her and she enjoyed going to lunch and getting pedicures with her grandma Sharon.

Desiree enjoyed spending time with her aunts, and uncles, and cousins anytime she could; and couldn't wait for the weekends to get here, so she could have her friends over to enjoy swimming, and staying up late and sleeping in late.

As the summer was coming to an end, Desiree was getting excited about school and how she was going do her hair. Desiree had very long hair, and loved doing new and different styles to make her hair curly and wavy.

Desiree had the whole world in her hands. As life is so unexpected, God had chosen Desiree to grow her angel wings and take flight up to heaven early as well.

Desiree, angel baby, you are and forever will be cherished, loved and missed.

Comments from those who never had the privelege to meet Desiree:

May God rest Desiree’s soul...

1st Thesalonians 4:13—18:

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Extract from a letter by a reader of the White Mountain Independent

Webmaster's note: This letter quoting from The Holy Bible Anno Dom. 1611, which the English call The Authorised Version, and Americans call The King James Bible. In verse 15, the word prevent had a different meaning in 1611 than it does today. In 1611, the word prevent meant to precede or go before. It is said to be a military term.
