This painting depicts the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity, which often feature in Masonic imagery. Faith and Hope, identified by the cross and anchor that they carry, are situated either side of a depiction of a temple with Masonic symbols, including the set square and compass. Above is Charity, identified by the children around her, and an All-Seeing Eye. Although not a uniquely Masonic symbol, the All-Seeing Eye is widely used in its imagery.
