What are some of the best rides at the Volusia County Fair? Here are a few favorites.

DELAND — When the sun goes down at the Volusia County fairgrounds, it's the flashing colors emanating from the midway's rides that illuminate the Volusia County Fair.

The rides are many and there is something for everyone. Young kids with their excited, happy faces step onto their favorites: the merry-go-round, small train and rollercoaster rides, teacups and more.

On the other hand, some screaming and slightly terrified faces prove the more thrilling nature of fair rides.

Guests tense up as they wait to be lifted 120 feet up in the air and shout out their anticipation as they freefall to the bottom.

The attraction, according to Wade Shows, is one of only four of its size in North America and has been a crowd favorite at the fair over the years.

If loops are your favorite part of rollercoasters, then Infinity is your ride.

The train seats 20 at a time and swings its passengers back and forth until the increasing speed makes it loop around six times.

Super Cyclone rollercoaster

The Super Cyclone rollercoaster may not be the most thrilling of carnival rollercoasters, but it is still a beloved classic.

The orange track towers over most other rides, giving riders a brief but amazing view over the fairgrounds.

It is a great opportunity for young kids to brave a more thrilling ride with their friends and family.

Zipper

The Zipper might not look like much at first glance, but it belongs among the most thrilling rides at the fair.

It consists of an oblong central structure (the boom) to which free-flipping capsules are attached with a chain. As the boom spins, so do the passengers in their capsules, making for an intense experience.

Starship 4000

Another classic carnival ride, Starship 4000 provides guests with a unique experience.

Inside, riders lean against the slightly slanted wall, divided by panels. As the enclosed structure beings to spin, riders star to feel a centrifugal force of almost three times the force of gravity.

How much are ride bracelets at the Volusia County Fair?

In order to go on any of these rides, you will need a ride bracelet. These are only available at the fair and run between $25 and $35 depending on the day.
