Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Horse Centaurs generally name their offspring after a constellation or after a sage from whose works they have gained great insight.

Relationship Ideals

Horse Centaurs are monogamous, typically finding one mate whom they breed and/or care for. Horse Centaurs will often continue this tradition of monogamy even after the other of the pair has died.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

All Centaurs speak a common language that varies only slightly in various dialects between sub-races. This is known to other races simply as Centaur-speech. It regularly involves a lot of body language including stamping and tail flicks, and utilizes various auditory sounds akin to the noises of the corresponding animal breed.

Common Dress Code

Horse Centaurs typically do not wear clothing due to the difficulty of putting on four-legged breeches. However, most female Horse Centaurs will wear armored leather breastplates or some other chest covering. At most, a male Horse Centaur will do the same. It is unheard of for any Horse Centaurs to wear chainmail or bardings, as they find the notion of wearing an item crafted for a beast to be insulting.

Common Myths and Legends

In the Champions of Old religious belief system, one member of this pantheon used to be a mortal Horse Centaur before ascending to godhood. Tobran, Keeper of the Bow, is said to have knitted the sky and sea together with his enchanted bow and arrows during The Severance. Of the Champions, Tobran is said to be the most truthful and trustworthy, and is the patron of many mortals who seek to obey the law and aim true.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Horse Centaurs do not get along terribly well with Bull Centaurs. Otherwise, they have no unusual prejudices and can be very social with other species.
