Hundreds lined up early Saturday morning to be among the first to toast Fiona with her own beer. Since her pre-mature birth at the Cincinnati Zoo, the hippopotamus has captured the hearts of the tri-state. Evanston based micro brewer Listermann Brewery is the latest business to fall for Fiona's hip-appeal.
"Fiona was born, our brewery was encapsulated by her and we were like how do we help? We make beer, so we decided to make a beer in her honor," Listermann General Manager Jason Brewer said.
Jennifer Barth of Price Hill waited in line starting at midnight to buy her 4 cans of the brew.
"Its about Miss Fiona. She's got the HIP-a-tude. Everybody in Cincinnati loves Fiona. I can't wait to see her when she's at the zoo. So I came here and got the beer," Barth said.
Barth was not alone. By the time doors opened at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, the line snaked around the blocked.
Each customer was limited to 2 four packs of the special brew with proceeds benefiting the Cincinnati Zoo.
