INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) — Former Ohio Congressman and two-time Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is expected to file paperwork Monday to run as an independent for Ohio’s 7th District.

Kucinich, 77, spent 16 years in Congress representing the greater Cleveland area before redistricting. According to the Associated Press, he was considered one of the most liberal House members.

Kucinich also served as mayor of Cleveland from 1977-1979, serving as the country’s youngest big-city mayor at the time. He also ran for governor in 2018 and served as campaign manager for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent presidential campaign.

Kucinich is looking to unseat Republican rival, Rep. Max Miller.

Doug Bugle and Matthew Diemer are running in the Democratic primary.
