CAPE DORSET, Nunavut — An artist whose work became a worldwide icon of the Canadian Arctic has died.

Kenojuak Ashevak, one of the first generation of Inuit printmakers, died Tuesday at her home in Cape Dorset, Nunavut. She was 85.
