Once guests are seated, no one will notice or care what they look like. I have been a guest at a “wedding”/renewal where the bride chose spandex covers for the chairs but they did not fit properly so guests pulled them off so they could be comfortable. Save your money.

My mom and I are decorating our chairs ourselves but I also spent $15 per x back chairs for the reception per guest, so chairs clearly matter to me too much! I agree that your chair coverings are not nice, but I’d go with the plain undecorated chairs over those.

Those chairs are fine. No one is going to worry about or remember your chairs. Save the stress and the money.

I also am not a fan, I call the chair condoms. . .I agree don't waste money on it. . .as long as the chairs are comfortable people won't care. . and if the room is going to be dark they won't be seen too much.

Chairs can really make or break the look of the entire place. Will your guests care… ‘Not necessarily’, but it’s one of those things where they won’t realize that they care or not but will subconsciously take note of the aesthetics of the place and be underwhelmed. As far as the overall decor the chairs are one of the main features. I would suggest not skipping out on the chairs. Can you get different chairs at all? I definitely think it’s worth spending the money. I spent $13 per chair. When you compare it to everything else you’re paying for and factor in that’s its one of the main decor features its really not that expensive. I would definitely just go with better chairs.

I hate those spandex chair covers too. A friend used them in her wedding and they were a pain to set up/tear down.

I haven’t seen those horrible chair covers in years 😝. But what’s worse is that I didn’t realize people even still used them. If renting chairs is out of your budget, then you’re much better off going with the existing chairs (minus the covers).

Those chairs are fine. Don't worry about it. Guests care far more about the comfort of the chairs than what they look like.

The chairs themselves are way better than the loose chair cover. I personally think it's looks like someone threw a pillow case on it and tied a bow... if you feel like you have to have a cover What about one of the tight spandex like chair covers ? Of the ones posted the white one with the ruffle train on the gold chair looks like it's actually trying to provide a design purpose. Still don't think it's necessary though.

What are your wedding colors?

I actually like the grey chairs by themselves! They work well with the room sine it's neutral - just depends on what colors you have to work with.

I agree though that the covers are so ugly. Bare is best IMO

I am not a fan of the chairs our venue has either (padded blue) and I also really do not like chair covers. For us, we've decided to spend the additional $900 to rent chiavari chairs.


The included venue chairs are something that stood out to me in reviews on Yelp/FB/Instagram etc that had wedding pics of our venue. Those couples who opted to keep the included padded blue chairs...well, it just made the venue look a little unpolished in their photos. It's not an insignificant expense but I mean, I'm spending thousands already on lighting, linens, flowers and decor...I know it would irritate the heck out of me if I saw everything else so beautifully coordinated... Except for the chairs.
So that's just my 2 cents. I feel like if it's one of those things that if it's bugging me this much already, it would bug me even more to get my reception photos back and see those chairs in the background.

Literally no one will notice or care about the chairs as long as they have one to sit in. I'd pick whichever one you dislike less and just go with it. Once there's people sitting/putting jackets or purses down and people walking around you won't even notice.

For example, think of the last wedding you went to - can you describe the chairs at the venue?

If you went with chair covers/bows/whatever to disguise the chairs is it you or the venue that would be doing them?

I've had to do chair covers on an entire room before with chair bows and it took me well over 4 hours to do all the bows and get the covers on just right.

I think doing something cool with a sash would be a better option that renting a whole cover, and overall the chairs are not bad. They're very neutral.

I wasn't a huge fan of the chairs at my venue either. We rented these simple sashes and it transformed the whole area. I didn't like the long ones that touch the floor. They are a tripping hazard and make it hard to get out of your seat. These sashes are also a very cheap alternative to renting chairs.
