Is It Time for an Agyness Deyn Comeback?

Back in 2005, before social media, when models were seen but not heard, Agyness Deyn, with her peroxide pixie cut and effervescent personality, appeared on the fashion scene and changed the game. A Vogue favorite, Deyn proved herself capable of bringing both rock ’n’ roll edge and an element of timeless elegance to her editorial work. Long before Instagram was mandatory for every model, Deyn kept fashion fans glued to her every move. From fronting her own band to working with top-tier photographers like Steven Meisel and Patrick Demarchelier, Deyn did it all her way.

Though her brand of quirky cool made her irresistible to the fashion set, in 2012 Deyn began to focus her energies on acting. Many a model has attempted a transition to the big screen, typically as the damsel in distress in a big, flashy action flick or as a one(-scene)-and-done love interest, but Deyn pulled off the switch with roles in independent films rather than blockbusters, while also focusing on her clothing line, Title A. This season, Deyn even graced the runway again, with a surprise showing at Saint Laurent, just to prove that even after a decade in the business, she still knows how to set tongues wagging. With more modeling work on the horizon and a role in the Coen brothers’ forthcoming movie Hail, Caesar! opposite Channing Tatum, George Clooney, and Scarlett Johansson, it looks like Deyn might just be poised for a serious comeback. Take a look back at her very best Vogue moments, and rediscover why the world fell in love with her in the first place.
