With summer in full swing and the Olympics kicking off in Rio tonight, there’s no moment more fitting than this one to embrace easy, tousled beach hair. And who better to advise on the subject of obtaining it than a few of the country’s homegrown supermodels? Vogue asked Brazilian beauties Adriana Lima, Caroline Trentini, and Caroline Ribeiro for their best tips on getting the voluminous waves of your dreams.

“Being in Brazil brings out a different vibe in me,” says Lima, and when she’s not on the red carpet, she lets her natural texture show. To achieve the undone look, the model runs a curling iron through her hair, then quickly braids the ends. “A light spritz of hairspray and then we’re out the door,” she adds. “Very simple!”

If you’re already at the beach and want to make your natural waves last a little longer, “let [hair] dry up in a bun filled with the salty water from the sea,” Trentini suggests. Those watching the games at home can get the same effect, sans beach: The bombshell Panambi native suggests adding a bit of Oribe’s wave shine spray to “lift the roots and give texture.”

Ribeiro’s signature trick involves applying a hydrating leave-in product (like Herbivore’s coconut salt spray), then “twist it up high on your head and leave for 30 minutes,” she explains. Windswept waves with virtually zero effort? It’s a gold medal–worthy approach.
