Thanks to everyone’s favourite child assassin film, Leon, we all know that Natalie Portman was an exceptional beauty even at a very young age. But now, as a 35-year-old mother, actress, director and Dior beauty ambassador (but still every bit as beautiful), which are the products she relies upon every day?

“Moisturiser is my beauty obsession,” Portman said, citing Dior Hydralife Pro Youth Cream and Pai Chamomile and Rosehip Calming Day Cream as favourites. “I always make sure to moisturise my skin in addition to using a lip salve, especially on days where I’m not in full make-up for work reasons.”

Portman, whose directorial debut, A Tale of Love and Darkness, opened in US cinemas this month, starts her regime by cleansing and toning, using products by Joëlle Ciocco. Make-up secrets include Dior’s Diorskin Forever and Ever Wear make-up base and Diorskin Forever and Ever Control Loose Powder, while nails are treated to Dior Crème Abricot cuticle cream. For hair, the actress uses Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt, followed by David Mallett Hair Serum.

Her secret weapon, though, is lipstick. Dior’s Lip Glow and Rouge Dior No.999 are her favourites and, since she is the face of the brand’s Dior Rouge lipsticks, which have been redeveloped to include new textures and shades, she is never in short supply.

“I own too many to count! You can never have too many options,” said the actress. “Even on non-work days I like to wear light or nude colors that blend in but give my lips moisture.”

But it was one of Portman’s very first film roles, as Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, that provided one of the most important chapters in the actress’s lipstick history.

“In Star Wars, when they made the Kabuki lip on me, I understood the aesthetic they were going for with the entire character from that lip,” she revealed. “Whether it’s a bold colour or something more natural, it’s about feeling comfortable in your look and wearing it with self-assurance.”
