Joe-pye-weed is a species of moist to wet, sunny sites. It is one of a small number of plants in our area with whorled leaves (more than 2 leaves at each node) and the broad colorful inflorescence is easy to spot when it is in flower. The color of the flower heads is in the pink to purple range, appearing to my eye as a mixture of the two, but varying from site to site and with the maturity of the flowers..
