Goalie news: Kari Lehtonen goes on injured list

Dallas Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen left Friday's game against the Vancouver Canucks because of a lower-body injury.

  • Dallas Stars goalie Richard Bachman will be in net
  • Joey MacDonald will get his first Flames start

The Dallas Stars placed goaltender Kari Lehtonen on the injured list, retroactive to Friday.

That means the earliest he could be activated is this upcoming Friday.

Lehtonen suffered a lower-body injury during a victory against the Vancouver Canucks during the weekend.

Cristopher Nilstorp has been recalled and he will back up Richard Bachman in Sunday's game against the Calgary Flames.

In other goalie news:

-Recently acquired Joey MacDonald will start for the Flames against the Stars because No. 1 Miikka Kiprusoff remains out with a lower-body injury.

-Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price (flu) is expected to be healthy enough to back up Peter Budaj in Monday's game, the team said. Robert Mayer, who backed up Budaj on Saturday night, was returned to the minors.
