Do you hate wearing sunscreen? If you're nodding at the screen, know that you're not alone. That's why more than 3,000 Sephora reviewers turn to—and praise— Supergoop's Unseen Sunscreen formula ($38 for 1.7 ounces), which feels more like a silky primer on the skin than a sticky, greasy sunscreen. Before you run to snag that one, though, there's another contender at a much more affordable cost: the new E.L.F. Skin Suntouchable Invisible Sunscreen ($14 for 1.7 ounces).

The E.L.F. Skin Suntouchable Invisible Sunscreen SPF 35 claims to "protect skin while it primes, creating a velvety smooth finish that blurs imperfections and grips makeup for long-lasting wear." The chemical SPF uses avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene and homosalate to provide broad spectrum protection, meaning it mitigates the damage of both UVA (associated with signs of aging) and UVB (related to sunburns) rays. E.L.F. recommends applying this 15 minutes before sun exposure as the last step in your morning skincare routine and reapplying it every two hours.

As Reviewed's beauty editor, I tried the sunscreen-primer hybrid prior to its launch and can attest that, similar to Supergoop's Unseen Sunscreen, it has a silky-smooth texture that's reminiscent of silicone. Also like Supergoop, it's a completely transparent formula that glides onto the skin and looks clear with zero white cast or noticeable texture.

Comparing the two formulas side-by-side, I noticed Supergoop's formula felt creamier when I dispersed it over the skin and felt softer to the touch once blended out. Still, given the drastic price difference, I'd consider giving the E.L.F. sunscreen a try if you love Supergoop's version or have wanted to try it but were deterred by the price.

If you're a fan of Supergoop's Glowscreen, E.L.F. launched the illuminating Suntouchable Whoa Glow as a dupe of that popular formula, and I think it's a great affordable alternative.

You can shop the E.L.F. Skin Suntouchable Invisible Sunscreen SPF 35 online at E.L.F. Cosmetics or Ulta now. It'll also be available online at Target on July 2.
