EASTBOURNE, England, June 17 (UPI) -- Seventh-seeded Nicole Vaidisova struggled on the court Tuesday and was ousted from the $600,000 International Women's Open in England in first-round play.

Vaidisova fell 6-2, 6-4 to Olga Govortsova and has lost eight of her last 10 matches. She had her serve broken four times while stopping Govortsova's serve once in the match. Vaidisova won barely half the points in her service games and took just four points out of 14 second serves.

Caroline Wozniacki, Ekaterina Makarova and Alisa Kleybanova also claimed first-round wins Tuesday. Wozniacki next goes against top-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Lindsay Davenport, citing a right knee injury, withdrew from the tournament. She would have played Razzano in the next round.
