This interprovincial park in southeastern Alberta spans the border with Saskatchewan. Home to a wide variety of plants and animals, the park is popular with birders (more than 220 species) and outdoor adventurers. With a wide variety of terrain that ranges from forests to wetlands to grasslands, there is much to explore on developed trails. During winter, downhill and cross-country skiing are available, as are snowshoeing, ice skating, and fat biking. In summer, visitors can kayak and canoe on Elkwater Lake or enjoy two designated swimming areas with sandy beaches. Get active on the disc golf course, complimentary 18-hole mini-golf course, or mountain bike trails. (both paved and technical) Elkwater offers several accommodation options, from hotels to RV and tent camping. Comfort Camping cabins and backcountry huts can be rented throughout the year.
