Time Out says

The cafe’s teddy bear-shaped kakigori may look similar to Hokkaido’s famous ‘teddy bear hotpot’, which sees a bear-shaped collagen jelly turn into broth when heated. And that’s because they are both run by the same restaurant – Kumachan Onsen.

Located on the ground floor of Kumachan Onsen in Shibuya, Oyasumi-dokoro specialises in sweets and desserts. The cafe’s signature item is a kakigori shaved ice dessert made to look like a cuddly teddy bear soaking in a hot spring bath. You can choose either the melon (¥2,300) or strawberry (¥1,860) flavour, and it comes loaded with fresh fruit, syrup and a coconut-flavoured sauce. On it you’ll also find peanut cream and shiratama rice-flour dumplings, with soft-serve ice cream and granola hidden inside the mound of shaved ice.

You can also get the soft-serve ice cream on its own, which is made from rich and creamy Hokkaido milk, and served in a cute teddy bear cup and topped with a bear-shaped monaka wafer (¥490). Drinks wise, there are nine cream sodas on offer (¥980). Flavours include melon, blue honeysuckle, Calpis and more.

Just like its sister hotpot restaurant on the second floor, you’ll find lots of Hokkaido-inspired design at Oyasumi-dokoro. The wooden walls are adorned with illustrations of bears wearing the traditional attire of Japan’s indigenous Ainu while the circular seating area resembles a cosy tent.
