Gemma Arterton reveals Hollywood producers forced her to lose weight by hiring a personal trainer and FILMING her in the gym
The 31-year-old told how she was monitored and even banned from eating dried apricots by an 'obese' producer
GEMMA Arterton has revealed she was once forced to lose weight by Hollywood producers, who went to the extreme length of filming her in the gym to ensure she was exercising.
The actress – who is a slender size 10 – opened up about the 'traumatic' incident, admitting it wasn’t the first time she had been told to shed some pounds.
Speaking on the Guilty Feminist pod cast, the 31-year-old recalled how producers flew a personal trainer out to get her to slim down and how, shockingly, an ‘obese’ producer banned her from even eating dried apricots.
She said: “There was one film that I was on and we were out in Morocco and a couple of weeks went past and they literally were like ‘We need a personal trainer - stat.’
“And they flew someone out overnight that gave up their whole life to be with me and be my personal trainer.
“You know when it’s like – ‘Is it that f****** bad that I need an emergency... [it was as if they were] like on speed dial – ‘Get that trainer out here now’.”
She added: “It was so traumatic at the time.”
Gemma, who is famed for being a Bond girl in Quantum of Solace, continued: “They’d measure me and they’d call up the personal trainer at like nine and night going: ‘Is she in the gym? And if she isn’t, why isn’t she in the gym?’
“And then they’d get me in the gym and film me in the gym and they’d have to know that I was there.”
Her humiliation didn’t end there though, as she revealed: “And there was one day when I went to get some snacks, they have like snacks on set, and I went to get some apricots, some dried apricots.

“And the man went, this big, fat, obese producer went: ‘I hope you’re not going to eat that.’”
While Gemma didn’t divulge what film she was talking about, she has previously spoken about being told to lose weight for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time – which was filmed in Morocco.
Speaking about the film – which had a £150 million budget – she said back in 2010: “When I got that part they really tried to transform me. They sent me to a personal trainer, wanted to get my teeth done, hair extensions, make me look like somebody else.
“And that’s fine. I had the tan, I had the hair, I went to the gym.”
