JANE BOND?

Bond Girl Eva Green says 007 must be a man as changing his gender ‘makes no sense’

BOND girl Eva Green has declared it "doesn't make sense" for 007 to be a woman.

The 38-year-old beauty played screen siren Vesper Lynd alongside Daniel Craig in his first outing as the suave spy in 2006’s Casino Royale.

The Dumbo actress addressed the debate around who should take over the prestigious role, which has been played by a man since Sean Connery took on the character in 1962's Dr No, when Craig eventually steps down.

She told Variety: "I’m for women, but I really think James Bond should remain a man. It doesn’t make sense for him to be a woman.

"Women can play different types of characters, be in action movies and be superheroes, but James Bond should always be a man and not be Jane Bond.

"There is history with the character that should continue. He should be played by a man."

What is the next James Bond film called and when is it released in the UK? date, cast rumours, plot and director

The director of the movie recently revealed that the storyline would follow the character arc that started with Eva's movie Casino Royale.

Speaking to The Inquirer, he said: "In terms of what I can bring to change the character, Bond is on a character arc that started with Casino Royale, and I will be carrying that on.

"There will be changes, I am sure. As in any story, a character has to change in order [to have] a narrative."
