Pacific Mall to clamp down on sale of counterfeit goods

Announcement follows U.S. government report that listed the Markham-based mall as one of the most notorious sources of pirated and counterfeit goods in the world.

A U.S. government report claimed Pacific Mall was among the world’s most notorious sources of imitation goods.


Pacific Mall management says it will conduct an internal investigation and is sending warnings to store owners after a U.S. government report listed the Markham-based mall as one of the most notorious sources of pirated and counterfeit goods in the world.

In January, the predominantly Chinese-Canadian shopping centre was listed as one of 18 bricks-and-mortar locations and 25 online retailers by the U.S. Office of the Trade Representative in its annual review of so-called “notorious markets.”
