(May 31, 2011) France's sweetheart, Marion Bartoli won 7-6(4), 6-4 against former French Open champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova for her 400th win.

"I have never felt that excited after a match to be honest. Just so many feelings at the same time. The crowd.. the wave... they were telling my name... they were supporting me. And when she missed that forehand I was just like, my god, I am in the semifinal of my home Grand Slam. Finally I can play well here. It was a big relief," Bartoli told the press with a huge smile.

She is the first Frenchwoman in the Roland Garros semifinals since the 2000 French Open Champion Mary Pierce in 2005. Her best performance at the major was back in 2007 when she made it to the fourth round.

"In the past years, I really felt the pressure here but in the bad way. I was going to the court without any confidence," said Bartoli. "I really thought this year I should try to take some pleasure."

The two played in front of a sparse front row as a majority of the French fans were over at Court Philippe Chatrier cheering on Gael Monfils, who lost. The 11th seed is the only French player left in the draw.

The 26-year-old will meet the 30-year-old defending champion Francesca Schiavone in the semifinals.
