Description
This resource includes 68 slides of David Hockney's photography collages, his process, and a student art project. Polaroid photography and Cubism are explained so students have an understanding of their influence on Hockney's collages. Students are asked to reflect on the use of the following composition characteristics:
- little cubes or geometric shapesÂ
- flattened (two-dimensional)
- several sides of the same subject are shownÂ
- different points of time are shown
- fragmented (look of broken glass)Â
- monochromatic (muted colors)
Several samples of artwork that were influenced by Hockney's collages are included as well as a grading rubric for the student art project. Students have the option of assembling their college by hand or digitally!
