FIRST EDITION, 4to (265 x 205mm.), half-title, engraved frontispiece, 94 engraved plates, including a few folding maps, coloured by hand, contemporary calf-backed boards, edges uncut, some fraying, one or two text leaves holed with loss; binding worn, sold not subject to return


Grasset de Saint-Sauveur was a draughtsman and writer, born in Montreal. After the conquest of New France by the English, he returned to France and embarked on a diplomatic career. This work was published for the first time in 24 issues between 1809 and 1811.
