The following information was provided by Charles Brett to whom we are very grateful;


This sketch resembles very closely the 42" x 84" The Grey of the Morning (Royal Academy 1882, now in a Private collection), for which it must have been the principal source. The scene is of Bothwick Rocks, between Towan and Killacourt Cove, Newquay, looking north-east towards Park Head, with Trevose Head in the far distance.
