Michelle Stafford Reveals One of Her Favorite Y&R Storylines

On a soap, actors are called upon to play all kinds of different stories and occasionally even different characters! A social media post (featuring a clip taken from the much-missed cable network SOAPnet!) recently reminded Michelle Stafford of one of her favorite storylines on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS — when she was given the chance to play the iconic supervillain Sheila Carter for a couple of months!

“I don’t know how well-received the storyline was but it was one of my favorites to play!” Stafford enthused as she reposted the clip on her own Instagram. “Sheila, played formerly and presently of course by the great Kimberlin Brown, had plastic surgery to look like Phyllis.”

Back in 2006, Sheila was terrorizing Lauren again, and had plastic surgery so that she would look like Phyllis. Although Paul had told Lauren and Michael that Sheila was dead, he was really holding the villain in a cell he’d constructed in a warehouse. Naturally, Sheila escaped and, disguised as Phyllis, took over the redhead’s life in order to continue tormenting her rival. The tale climaxed with Lauren holding a gun on the two women trying to decide who was the real Phyllis. Naturally, she chose correctly and shot Sheila, who was once again (wrongly) presumed dead!

“I loved working solely with Christian LeBlanc (Michael) and Doug Davidson (ex-Paul) on this,” Stafford added. “All these jail cell scenes were fun. So different. I do remember we all had a hard time getting past the “you want the shank, come get it,” line without laughing our asses off. Oh, man! These days were beyond fun!”

And in the comments on her post, Davidson chimed in to cosign her opinion of the storyline. “Totally agree,” he declared. “So much fun!”

With 11 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and two wins, it’s clear that Stafford has the talent to do pretty much anything… even taking over a role made famous by another talented Daytime Emmy nominee!
