Elisha Cuthbert comments get ex suspended

Elisha Cuthbert is having a messy break up. Her ex, NHL star Sean Avery, has been suspended for comments he made about Cuthbert recently in Calgary.

Elisha Cuthbert and her current beauThe NHL determined that Avery’s comments on Cuthbert were “inappropriate” and “detrimental” to the game of hockey.

Avery has been banned indefinitely from the Dallas Stars for words the player still believes were alright to utter about Cuthbert.

The entire scene is playing out like a full-fledged soap opera. Cuthbert is now dating Calgary Flames Dion Phaneuf, a bitter rival of Avery’s. Ironically, Avery was in Calgary for a game when he made the comments that got him kicked from the league.

“I am really glad to be back in Calgary, I love Canada,” Avery says while calling the media over to him prior to the game. “I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don’t know what that’s about. Enjoy the game tonight.”

Avery has previously dated model Rachel Hunter, who is now engaged to Jarrett Stoll of the Los Angeles Kings.

The NHL did not think that Avery’s comments were gentlemanly, much less appropriate on any level, and thus felt that had no choice but to suspend Avery until further review of the scandal.

Cuthbert has remained quiet on the issue. The employer of Avery has chimed in, though:

“Had the league not have suspended him, the Dallas Stars would have. This organization will not tolerate such behavior, especially from a member of our hockey team,” team owner Tom Hicks says in a statement. “We hold our team to a higher standard and will continue to do so.”
