SDTC introduces The Professionals; a resource for women in the GTA and a tool for young professional women to grow their business.

Do the following scenarios sound familiar?

You are at an appointment with a dead-pan therapist, in which you talk endlessly to the point where you are fabricating lies only to see if he’ll twitch or say SOMETHING… anything!! While spilling your guts, he is completely consumed with whether he has the right spices to perfect his jerk chicken recipe for dinner. Cha-ching – that experience cost you 200 bucks.

Have you encountered the masseuse who consistently belched while rubbing your neck, blaming it on your bad energy? Only $90 to get dry heaved on at close range – what a deal.

Ever meet the misogynist real estate agent who preferred to liaise with your boyfriend directly, even though you owned the condo? I mean… clearly you’re incompetent.

Maybe those things haven’t happened to you, but this surely has:

You’ve traversed two subway lines, taken a bus, left Toronto and fallen into the unknown territory of North York. In a dismally decorated reception area you sift through a dirty outdated Maclean’s magazine while having particles of other people’s sneezes trickle down your face like a hot germy steam. Forty-five minutes later you finally see the doc and leave with this sentiment: “Well, that was a f*cking waste of time.”

There has got to be a better way than this dismal approach of trial and error! Can’t we put together a succinct directory with top female professionals, from a variety of fields, who come highly recommended by like-minded women in the GTA? Isn’t there a way to promote young women who have started their own businesses, while also creating a terrific resource for the rest of us? And then it dawned on me; YES WE CAN!

No more burping masseuses, smug lawyers, scatterbrained accountants or perverse dentists:

The Professionals will be an area on Shedoesthecity.com that will strive to efficiently answer these types of questions:

– Who knows a good family lawyer who can help me with my prenup?

– My GP is located at Bathurst and Lawrence – not convenient at all… anyone have a good one downtown?

– Who would you recommend to build a website for a small business?

– My wedding is in one month and I haven’t booked a photographer! HELP!

Calling all lawyers, doctors, real estate agents, dulas, financial advisors, marketing consultants, holistic healers… AND MORE – do you want to be on our list?

We will be selecting only ten qualified individuals for each category, to ensure that this list is succinct for our readers as well as maximizing exposure for Professionals to help them build their business effectively.

The Professionals section will go live on Shedoesthecity.com in a month’s time. If you want to be featured for the next year as one of our recommended professionals, or know someone who would be interested, then e-mail Samantha Evans at sam@shedoesthecity.com to find out more information and receive an application form.
