This is the brand new, fourth-generation Suzuki Swift, featuring a ‘dramatic’ new design and boosts for both comfort and safety.
The Swift is already a cracking little hatchback, coming with a mild-hybrid engine as standard as well as the option of all-wheel drive.
And when the updated Swift becomes available to lease in the spring of 2024, it’ll wear a sharp new suit while also being as affordable as ever.
The most obvious changes to the Swift are evident at the front end, which gets a new honeycomb grille and sculpted bonnet.
Suzuki also reckons the Swift’s ‘muscular’ new stance and floating roof design lend the hatch a ‘sense of energetic lightness’.
The cabin will boast a centre cluster, and controls, that are angled toward the driver to make them easier to use, while an updated dash and door trims give the cabin a ‘sporty, dynamic look’, according to the Japanese manufacturer.
You can expect a 9-inch HD touchscreen as well as a full suite of driver assistance and safety systems. They include Suzuki’s ‘Dual Sensor Brake Support II’ tech, which deploys radar and cameras to detect vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians in front of the vehicle, and help mitigate frontal, diagonal, and lateral collisions. The system can automatically throw on the anchors if it feels the driver isn’t doing enough to prevent a collision.
As before, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist will come as standard with a Suzuki Swift lease.
While Suzuki isn’t revealing precise figures just yet, it says the Swift’s 1.2-litre 12V mild-hybrid engine will offer better performance, enhanced fuel economy, and lower CO2 emissions than before.
The ‘ALLGRIP’ all-wheel drive system will be available as an option, providing ‘additional traction for driving on snow-covered roads or other slippery surfaces’.
One glaring omission from the Suzuki Swift announcement is what’s going to happen to the performance model - the Suzuki Swift Sport. There’s no indication that the Sport is being discontinued, so here’s hoping it remains on the leasing roster.
