Top seed Anna Chakvetadze claimed her fifth career title with a 6-1 6-3 triumph over seventh-seeded Akiko Morigami at the Western and Southern Financial Group Women's Open in Cincinnati.

Ranked eighth in the world, Chakvetadze improved to 5-0 in her career in finals.

The Russian claimed her third crown of the year, also having won at Hobart and 'S-Hertogenbosch.

Chakvetadze had lost her previous three encounters against Morigami, who was seeking her second title of the year.

But the latest meeting turned into a complete mismatch as Chakvetadze needed just under an hour to dismiss her Japanese foe.

Chakvetadze overcame six double faults by breaking Morigami's serve six times.

It was a disappointing finish to what had been a big week for Morigami, who also lost here in the final in 2005.

She had beaten second-seeded Patty Schnyder in the quarter-finals on Friday.
