Scene-stealing actor Tyson Houseman became one of Hollywood's brightest young stars after landing a coveted role in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" (2009) as a Pacific Northwest teen torn between a human life and his werewolf ancestry. Born on Feb. 9, 1990 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Tyson Connor Houseman was a First Nation Descendant of the Cree Nation. He graduated from Victoria School of the Visual Performing Arts in his hometown of Edmonton, where he often appeared in theater productions. Houseman entered the public eye with a supporting role in one of 2009's biggest blockbusters, "New Moon," after showing up at an open casting call he discovered while looking for a job on the Internet. After a casting process that saw thousands of hopefuls vying for a role on the film, Houseman was offered a part in "New Moon" just a week after his audition. He played Quil Ateara, the happy-go-lucky best friend and second cousin of half-human/half-werewolf teen Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). The film, which also starred Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, exceeded commercial expectations, grossing over $142 million during its opening weekend.
