AK-47 Assault Rifle Type 56

AK-47 assault rifle. Wooden stock and pistol grip with steel barrel and steel curved magazine. The magazine takes 30 rounds of ammunition. It is fitted with high front sights and a tangent rear leaf sight. The gun is gas operated and a selector lever permits firing single shots or fully automatic fire at a rate of about 600 rounds per minute. The calibre is 7.62mm. The number '66 565' is stamped on the left side of breech as is the serial number '304452'. The letters 'S F' appear on the right side of the breech. There are three proof marks on the left hand side of the barrel. The AK-47 was developed shortly after the Second World War and became standard Soviet service issue. The Type 56 was manufactured by the Chinese.
