BLOEDEL CONSERVATORY, VANCOUVER

Bloedel Conservatory

The city of vancouver's highest point

Located in Queen Elizabeth park, the Bloedel Conservatory is home to a lush green space, as well as outdoor walking trails, water fountain and immaculate city views.

On this warm July evening, I was in between client shoots in the area waiting for the sun to go down so I could grab some twilight shots of the project, so I figured, rather than sit in my car for the next hour, why not drive up to Queen Elizabeth Park.

I arrived, and it was busy. What else would I expect on a warm July night?

After walking the grounds for a little bit looking for the best shot of the city, I figured I wanted to capture both the Conservatory dome, as well as the ocean and mountains, so I grabbed out my drone.

This was the second time flying this new drone I had just purchased, and for its size, it does a pretty good job and is comparable to my larger drone, which the majority of the photos in the 2023 World From Above Calendar have been taken on.

I walked away from the crowds to a small plaza near the parking lot where I could safely take off without interrupting anyone and captured this shot above the park and found exactly the composition I was looking for.
