City to Ford: Drop dead!

-

THE POWER of Toronto’s crackhead mayor has gone up in smoke.

The Toronto City Council on Monday stripped away most of the official duties of Mayor Rob Ford, who has stubbornly refused to resign from office even after he copped to smoking crack and being in a “drunken stupor.” The oafish offi- cial responded by calling the vote a “coup d’etat” and barreling into a female council member as he charged at the gallery.

The doped-up mayor, who has become the butt of many late-night show jokes, can’t be forced out of office unless he is convicted of a crime and thrown in jail.

So the council tried to dethrone him a different way, suspending his legislative power to appoint and dismiss his executives, and cutting his budget by 60%.

The council invested authority in the deputy mayor to handle any civic emergency, oversee the balance of the budget and chair the executive committee.
