Never guess where to get materials

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is filled with various side quests that require you to turn in materials to unlock new facilities, character upgrades, and more. However, with dozens of items to be found through the game’s various shops and missions, it may be hard to figure out where to track down any missing items.

Thankfully, you can unlock an upgrade called the Sheikah Sensor, which lets you track quests that have the materials you need to obtain. Doing so will automatically mark any missions or shops where you can get those items.

In this Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity guide, we’ll show you where to get the Sheikah Sensor and how to use it to track items.

Where to get the Sheikah Sensor

Early on in chapter two, well before you unlock all of the additional heroes, you’ll receive a quest in Akkala called “Needed: Researchers!” Completing this mission is straightforward.

All you need is 200 Bokoblin Trophies, 50 Lizalfos Trophies, and 1,000 rupees. You should have more than enough of all these resources by the time this mission is available. You can obtain both the trophies and rupees by defeating enemies during missions.

Turn in these materials, and you’ll unlock the Sheikah Sensor.

How to use the Sheikah Sensor

Once you’ve unlocked the sensor, you can begin tracking quests that have missing materials. Since there are so many materials to gather in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity between missions and shops, the Sheikah Sensor makes it easy to figure out where to go for missing items.

To use the sensor, highlight a quest where you have missing materials. You’ll know a quest is missing materials if the items in the mission description have red text when displaying the quantity.

If a quest is missing materials, you’ll have the option to register that quest by pressing the X button. You can only register two quests at a time, but you can track up to six materials between both of those quests. To remove quests from the sensor, tap X again while looking at a quest, and you’ll get the option to free up a registration spot in your sensor.

Tracked materials will get a green sensor icon over them. Registered quests will also get a green dot on their map icon, so you know which quests are currently being tracked at a glance. If any missions or shops contain the materials you need, a green aura will emanate from that location.

When you highlight a shop or mission that contains a tracked material, that item will also have the sensor icon above it. Once you obtain the necessary amount of materials, a notification will appear letting you know that you can complete the tracked quest.

If there is an item you’d like to track, you can also manually mark up to six materials for tracking. To do so, keep hitting the R button on the map screen until you cycle all the way to the Materials menu.

From this menu, you can sort through all the different types of items like food, objects, trophies, and more. If there’s a specific material you’d like to track, highlight it, press the X button, and then assign it to one of the six Sheikah Sensor slots available.
