Kees Van Dongen participated in 1905 Salon, where the Fauvism was coined. Van Dongen exhibited along with Henri Matisse, Maurice de Vlaminck and Andre Derain among others and became one of the original "Fauves".  Van Dongen was also belonged to the German Expressionist group called "Die Brücke". 

Van Dongen, who was Netherlands-born, French artist, died in Monaco, represented both Fauvism and German Expressionism.
