Biography: André René Roussimoff was a French professional wrestler, known for his size which resulted from an excess of growth hormone caused gigantism. This led to his being known internationally as André the Giant, and called by some "The Eighth Wonder of the World."

Roussimoff began his wrestling career in 1966 before moving to the United States where he fell in with the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) under the wing of Vincent J. McMahon. He started off as a promotional wrestler and then went on to become regular fixture in the WWWF.

André the Giant was known within WWWF in particular for his feud with Hulk Hogan, and the two headlined at WrestleMania III in 1987. The next year André defeat Hulk Hogan to take the WWF Championship.
