Just Steps To Rathtrevor Beach
Ocean Trails is located on a scenic bluff above and just steps away from the world-renowned Rathtrevor Beach. At 5 kilometers long and almost a kilometer wide stretch of sandy beach, Rathtrevor is an idyllic piece of Vancouver Island and is a perfect example of why thousands of people make their way to this peaceful eastern Island shore. In summer the water warms to nearly 20°C and tidal pools are brimming with sea stars, crabs, and sand dollars.
One of the most memorable aspects of our beaches is just how far out you can walk from the shore. This August 22nd and 23rd, and again on September 7 expect low tides of well under one metre, allowing you to explore out to a whole kilometer across the silky sands.
Think about that for a moment. Imagine taking off your shoes and socks, rolling up your pants, and stepping onto soft sands before walking out for over half a mile to reach the ocean. It’s an experience we like to enjoy as often as we can. And there just so happens to be a handful of perfect days each year to do so: during extreme low tides.
